Follow the Queen is a variation of 7 Card Stud, that uses queens and the cards dealt after them as wild cards. Great for the poker enthusiast, all its rules can be learnt here.

Follow the Queen is a variation of 7 Card Stud Poker, and although it is played similarly, it is generally not offered at online or offline casinos and/or poker rooms. It is a game that is played casually with friends at home among poker enthusiasts, because it allows for long hands by utilizing several wild cards. The following will overview the rules of Follow the Queen, and its main differences from 7 Card Stud Poker. For a game overview, see 7 card Stud Poker rules:

Follow the Queen uses wild cards in such a way that as the name suggests, all face-up Queens and the face-up card dealt directly after the Queens, are wild. If a face-up Queen is dealt again, the card immediately following it will cancel and replace the previous wild card that followed one.

For example:
If a face-up Queen is dealt and is followed by a face-up 5, then all Queens and 5’s are wild. If another face-up Queen is dealt and is followed by a 9, then all Queens and 9’s are wilds instead.

If the final face-up card dealt is a Queen, then only Queens are wild. If there are no face-up Queens dealt, then there are no wild cards for that hand.

As in 7 Card Stud Poker, “antes” are used at the beginning of the game. They are small bets that must be put into the pot before the first cards are to be dealt, and act as incentive to the players.
