Bank holiday bonus for Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius as three of online poker's biggest names unwrap giant cash wins as an Easter treat
There was a bumper hoard in store for three giants of the online poker world as all scored big cash wins over the Easter weekend. Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius each netted a six figure sum, as the three of them spent the bank holiday weekend working away towards earning a small fortune.
American Tom Dwan, more commonly known as Durrrr, got off to a shaky start on Easter Sunday when he went head to head against the elusive Phil Ivey in a brief Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) Session at the Full Tilt high-stakes cash tables. Ivey finished the encounter $316,000 richer, leaving Durrrr to lick his wounds before resurfacing to begin a dominant spell playing heads-up and short-handed cash against players such as Justin Bonomo, Isaac Haxton and Aston Griffinn.
His winning streak saw him first take on Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo, as their pair locked horns in a massive 2,272 hand multi-table heads-up match, before Canadian Bonomo called it a day after losing $228,481 to Durrrr.
It seems that Durrr was just warming up as proceeded to play short-handed No Limit Hold'em (NLHE) against Isaac “luvtheWNBA” Haxton, Ashton “theASHMAN103” Griffin and online regulars “Observer84” and “Mr Zahmat” to cement another $342,000 in winnings, making his earlier loss to Ivey a distant memory.
The final big winner of the Easter Extravaganza was Patrik Antonius, as the Finn began climbing the $2.4 million debt mountain that he has accrued in the first three months of 2010. The $900,000 he made from a lengthy 7-game session and a heads-up PLO clash with Cole South was the first giant step on the road to recovery.
The Easter hunt proved successful for three of the titan's at least, but with the extreme highs and lows of high stakes poker, only time will tell if they will continue to be the big winners as the summer months approach.
