Fernando Brito is well on the way to becoming the EPT Player of the Year.
As the current European Poker Tour season becomes more exciting it seems as is Fernando Brito is well on the way to being named the Player of the Year after he cashed at yet another event. In each of the tournaments on the tour Brito has managed to take a prize his latest success being in the $2,500 NLHE game.
Brito is at the top of season seven’s leaderboard with a total of 2,930 points. In second place at the moment is John O’Shea who is trailing with 2,225 points. Brito came second in the €1,000 Turbo Randomized Bounty tournament in Vilamoura, 6th place in the Main Event in London, 1st place in the €1,000 Turbo Randomized Bounty tournament in London, 1st in the €10,000 event in Vienna, 1st in the €10,000 event in Barcelona, 32nd place in the €5,000 Main Event in Prague, 1st in the €1,000 Turbo Randomized Bounty tournament in Prague and 20th in the €1,500 No Limit Hold’em event in Deauville.
This means that his earnings from the EPT so far this season come to a total of €466,000 and he also managed to go and take part in a Poker Stars North American Poker Tour event where he won a satellite into the Main Event and came second in a €1,000 side event. Last month Brito took part in the Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure and came 23rd in the $2,000 No Limit Hold’em event. All of which is extremely impressive considering that Brito only began playing poker about 19 months ago.
Outside of poker, Brito is a successful businessman who lives in Brazil. He began playing poker on Poker Stars but says that he prefers to play in live games. In last year’s EPT he game 53rd in the Season 6 Grand Final. He also regularly plays in the PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour and has had success in several side events. He says that he is considering retiring from business in order to play poker full time but has not yet decided.
Aside from Brito a number of new names have appeared in the top ten such as Will Molson from Canada and Vegard Nygaard the Norwegian professional player. Each of them is hoping to become the EPT Poker Player of the Year.
In particular Molson has had an excellent run of form and has had many excellent finishes over the past few months. The next EPT event will be taking place in Denmark later in year.
