The online poker scene's latest news is the upcoming Canadian Open Poker Championships, expected to take the industry by storm this May. Get all the details here.
The offline and online poker world are starting to gear up for what looks to be one of this year’s most exciting events, the 2009 Canadian Open Poker Championships (COPC). Owned and managed by HeadUps Entertainment International Inc., the event will kick off on May 13th and continue for 5 days at the newly established Stampede Casino in Calgary, Alberta in Canada.
The expected total prize pool up for grabs at the COPC is over $1,000,000. The tournament will include 5 events, of which the Main Event will have a $5000 buy in, 128 players, a best of 2 out of 3 structure, blinds of 20 minute intervals and 10 grand in starting chips. The Canadian Poker Tour Championships Main Event itself will be broadcasted live on “The Score” TV channel.
Last year’s tournament brought in some of the industry’s best offline and online poker players, as well as several celebrities. The 2009 COPC is expected to be even more successful than the 2008, and online poker players are going to have to battle it out for the chance at participating.
One of the main organizations offering satellite entry to the COPC is Cake Poker, who has promised to send several of its best online poker players along to the Heads Up Main Event with attractive prize packages. Valued at no less than $5,500, the Cake Poker prize package includes entry to the CDN Main Event (valued at $5,000), about $1,400 for travel expenses, VIP access to the COPC Ultimate Players Party and access to the VIP lounge of the High Rollers. With so much on offer, the online poker world is bound to be on a poker high this month!
There are several ways in which online poker players can get their hands on this not-to-be-missed-out-on offer. At Cake Poker, there will be regularly held satellite competitions taking place each day, on which a certain amount in the pot will determine how many seats will be offered. The satellite semi final will then continue of Sunday evenings only, until the final rounds take place on Monday nights. By this stage, Cake Poker will offer its online poker players 1 COPC seat for every $5,500 added to the pot.
Online poker players should visit Cake Poker for further information.
