Later this month Phil Hellmuth is running a charity tournament in Wisconsin to raise money for HospiceCare Inc with prizes including a seat at the WSOP 2011
Phil Hellmuth the eleven-time WSOP bracelet winner is going to be running a charity poker tournament this month for HospiceCare Inc. It will be taking place in Hellmuth’s hometown, Madison Wisconsin, in the penthouse at the Arbor Gate Complex on December 18th from 3pm until midnight. Of course Hellmuth will be taking part in the tournament and there are also some amazing prizes up for grabs including a seat at the 2011 WSOP Main Event and a two year lease off a 2011 Honda Accord LX.
If you’d like to join in the fun then there are a few of ways to get tickets. You can buy a $500 ticket which will allow you to take part in the tournament and have special access to a VIP room where you’ll have the chance to meet Hellmuth. Alternatively you can buy a $300 ticket which includes food, drinks and a place in the tournament or the final option is a $100 ticket which will give you access to the event, but not a place in the tournament.
Of course all the profits will go the patients and families helped by HospiceCare Inc, which is a non-profit hospice which cares for more than 630 patients a day in Wisconsin. They deliver services to patient’s homes helping them with everyday tasks and giving their families a bit of a break.
It is expected that over 500 people will take part in the tournament with competitors arrive from across the Midwest. At the final table players will face Hellmuth and have the opportunity to try their skills against the ex World Champion.
Hellmuth has managed to attract a number of sponsors for this charity tournament including UB.com, Adams Outdoor Advertising, Coors Light, Clear Channel Radio, McDonalds, Miller Lite and Zimbrick Honda. Even though he has a reputation as the ‘poker brat’ Hellmuth is continually trying to use poker for charitable means. A number of times in the past Hellmuth has used his poker celebrity status to help various causes.
Very often he has helped the law enforcement community by hosting several tournaments in Las Vegas to help the TASER Foundation, an organisation which helps families of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. Hellmuth has also helped with charity events for Doctors Without Borders, Habitat for Humanity and Heifer International which aims to help lessen hunger and poverty across the world.
