Crazy Pineapple

Crazy Pineapple is largely a mixture of Texas Holdem and Omaha Holdem, and despite that the differences between them are only minor, they influence the game and its strategy significantly. As such it is important to know where they lie, and the level of influence they can pose. This guide will explain the course of an online Crazy Pineapple game, so that you know where and when to act differently.

Crazy Pineapple is a combination of Texas Holdem and Omaha Holdem Poker. There are 2 main differences between Crazy Pineapple and Texas Holdem, which this guide will cover by describing the course of the game:

  1. “Blinds” are mandatory bets of 2 players left of the dealer, and are used instead of antes. The 1st player, who always sits directly left of the dealer, places a “small blind”- half the minimum bet. The 2nd player places a “big blind” - the lowest betting amount.
  2. The “button” symbol represents the dealer. It moves around the table in a clockwise direction to show which player will act as dealer for each round.
  3. In Texas Holdem, the button would deal two cards to players face down, but in Crazy Pineapple each player receives 3 “hole” or “pocket” cards. Once all cards are dealt, the big blind must call, fold, or raise, after which other players must also decide their actions. All bets and raises are limited to the lower stake amount.
  4. “The flop” is the second betting round, beginning with 3 community cards laid at the table center. Community cards are available to all players to make a winning 5 card hand. During this round of betting, each player must discard one of his/her hole/pocket cards, unlike in Texas Holdem or Omaha Holdem. Again, all bets and raises are limited to the lower stake amount.
  5. “The Turn” is the third betting round, in which a 4th community card is dealt and a new betting round follows. Here onwards betting and raising is doubled to reach a limit of the higher stake amount.
  6. “The River” is the 4th betting round, in which a 5th community card is laid on the table, and there is a final round of betting.
  7. ”The Showdown” is the revealing of all player’s cards once the River is completed. At the Showdown, Crazy Pineapple players are able to chose one of the following options to make their final hand:
    1. To use both remaining pocket cards and 3 community cards.
    2. To use 1 of the remaining pocket cards and 4 community cards
    3. To use all 5 of the cards playing for the board.
The last player to have bet or raised will show his/her hand first. All following player’s hands are automatically revealed in a clockwise direction.
  8. Once the winner is declared, the button moves one player clockwise to indicate the new dealer, and a new round of betting begins.
