Recently Devil Fish Poker has been struggling to stay afloat, however, the company has now been bought by The Weather Company in a deal which will save the company.
The company Devil Fish Poker, a subsidiary of the gaming operator Devilfish Gaming, based in Cheshire has just been bought by the The Weather Lottery in a deal worth £330,000.
The deal has been broken down into a £40,000 cash payment and £290,000 of new The Weather Lottery shares. According to Devil Fish Gaming the cash is going to be used to settle existing liabilities and to help the company continue operating until it can find a suitable transaction or merger option. Originally Devil Fish Poker was founded by the famous British Poker player Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliott to some success. However, in the year up to June 30th they reported an operating loss of £110,000 on a turnover of £780,000; they currently have outstanding liabilities of £10,803.
The Weather Lottery offers lotto operations as a method of fundraising and last July began offering a sports betting service under the name of FC BETZ. The opening of FC BETZ was announced with a deal with the Premier League club Coventry City and a number of other football outlets.
However, the company has been lacking an online poker operation which was preventing it from expanding properly into the online poker world; hopefully the new deal will furnish them with everything they need to make this expansion.
The Weather Lottery, based in Doncaster, has said that it is hoping to develop the true potential of Devil Fish Poker through promoting the brand and exploiting its unique qualities. They have also said that they can see a number of opportunities for the cross selling of products from FCBetz.com with Devil Fish Poker products.
The Chairman of The Weather Lottery, Lord Razzall has said that Devil Fish Poker has already established a name for itself within a sector that is complimentary to the gaming operations which The Weather Lottery already carries out. He believes that the company has significant unused potential for development which “fits in with our gaming strategy”.
The Weather Lottery is traded on the London Stock Exchange under the name TWL. Since the announcement of the purchase of Devil Fish Poker the company’s stock has shown significant increase in trading. On Christmas Eve it reached a high of 89 pence and by the end of the trading day it had settled back down to 66 pence, still a good 10 percent increase on its starting price.
Recently The Weather Lottery has also bough the search engine operator ClickNow Holdings in a deal which was worth £48,750.
