The English Poker Open is soon to begin, and it's time you learnt about its credentials and how you can take part. We've got the entire low-down right here
The UK has simply been a magnet for world class poker during the last few weeks, what with the PokerStars European Poker Tour heading to London and the World Series of Poker Europe also taking it under its wing. Yet the upcoming English Poker Open (EPO) is no doubt Britain's most exciting poker event, and once again, all eyes this month and next will be directed at the Brits!
The Main Event of the EPO will be held from September 15-17 at Nottingham's Dusk Till Dawn, and will consist of 270 players, $5,300 buy-in, starting stacks of 10,000, 1 hour levels and 3 days of game play (the first of which an impressive 11 hours-long!). It will also attract a range of reputable players, among them locals Liv Boeree and Joe Beevers, world renowned Doyle Brunson, and even Phil Hellmuth the WSOP 11-time champion. Alongside the event will also be a £250 No Limit Freezeout and a £500 No Limit Freezeout spread over 2 days. The event will officially kick off the night before at the Crowne Plaza in Nottingham with a warm welcome party. According to an official EOP release, the Queen of England herself may even make an appearance!
As for entry into the EPO, players have a list of options available to them. Despite that there are only 117 seats left up for grabs, there are several poker rooms offering qualifying tournaments regularly throughout the next month. Among them are Littlewoods Poker, Full Tilt Poker, InterPoker, William Hill Poker, and the Cake Poker Network, which itself includes no less than 6 different poker rooms. Full Tilt, for example, is offering a $200 + $16 tournament each and every Sunday with guaranteed $6,500 prize packages on offer. On the Cake Network, qualifying tournaments run daily for very low buy-in.
RaketheRake is also offering an exclusive competition which will award 3 lucky people with entry into EPO events, simply by registering! Players can register on the EPO website and winners will be drawn on August 31st. 1st place winner will enjoy entry into Event 2 on September 16 for £500 + £60, and 2nd and 3rd place winners will enjoy entry into Event 3 on September 17th for a hefty £250 + £30 each!
