This year’s EPT San Remo looks like it will be the biggest to date with several professionals coming to take part. Last year’s winner Constant Rijkenberg will also be returning to defend his title

Last year’s champion was twenty year old student Constant Rijkenberg from Amsterdam. Last year he showed no fear when entering such a big playing field and followed through on his boastful prediction that he would win the tournament and a nice €1,508,000.

After last year’s win Rijkenberg said, “I expected it … I said three weeks ago that I was going to win this tournament, and it was true,” However, it will not be too easy for him to defend his title as once again they are expecting over one thousand players in Italy where poker is extremely popular as well as a number of professionals including Jason Mercier, Barry Greenstien, Michael “Timex” Mcdonald, Luca Pagano, Dario Minieri, Steve Gross, Isabelle Mercier, Chad Brown, Jude Ainsworth and Harrison Gimbel (the PokerStars Carribean Adventure champion).

Participants in the EPT San Remo no-limit hold’em main event began with 30,000 in chips and blinds begun at 50-100. Day one’s levels lasted 60 minutes throughout day one and from the second day onwards they will last seventy five minutes. On Wednesday April 21st the final table will take place and a champion will be crowned. If you are interested in following all the latest action and want to follow Rijkenberg’s attempt to defend his title there are a number of EPT Live video feeds available online with regular reviews of the day’s events.
