After realising the potential of the market and the lack of poker tournaments available, PokerStars has launched the Eureka Poker Tour to cater for Eastern and Central European players.
PokerStars have launched a new live poker tour which shall travel around Eastern and Central Europe. Known as the ‘Eureka Poker Tour’ it shall bring players the big game tournament experience with affordable buy-ins.
The first season of the tour is due to stop in Prague, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia and Romania. It will then return to Prague in December to join the Prague stop of the European Poker Tour. An official announcement about the tour was made by Team PokerStars Pro member Luca Pagano at the PokerStars Caribbean adventure earlier this month. Pagano said that last year the Italian Poker Tour visited Slovenia and they were surprised by the number of players from Croatia and Romania that took part. PokerStars realised that they had a number of potential players in the area and decided to launch the Eureka tour.
The tour begins on March 16th at the Card Casino in Prague where an €800 main event will run over the course of four days. There will also be a number of side events including two €165 No Limit Hold’em Turbo events, a €260 No Limit Hold’em, another No Limit Hold’em event whose buy-in is yet to be announced, and a €220 Pot Limit Omaha event.
Each player in the main event will receive 15,000 starting chips, and there will be 60 minute blind levels. The No Limit Hold’em Turbo events start with 7,000 chips and 20 minute blinds, the €260 No Limit Hold’em event will have a starting stack of 10,000 chips with 40 minute blinds and the €220 Pot Limit Omaha event will start with 10,000 chips and 30 minute blinds.
Online satellites for the first event began recently and there is a wide range of qualifying options available to suit all bankrolls. There are feeder satellites with have buy-ins as low as €2 which can be accessed via the PokerStars client.
Every stop of the tour will feature an €800 main event taking place over four days. There will be two starting days, a maximum of 400 – 500 players and it is expected that prize pools should be larger than €250,000.
This is the eighth tour created by PokerStars it joins the European Poker Tour, North American Poker Tour, Latin American Poker Tour, Asia Pacific Poker Tour, Australia New Zealand Poker Tour, United Kingdom Ireland Poker Tour, Italian Poker Tour and Czech-Slovak Poker Tour.
