Rug up this Winter with a hot dose of Poker tournament – yes, this January will see the 1st ever Polar Poker Challenge take place! Find all the details here now
Poker is a sport that comes in all shapes and forms, and the latest is clearly polar! Set to kick off already this January is the world’s first ever Polar Poker Challenge, which will see the world of online and offline Poker collaborate in a cool Winter setting. Scheduled to officially begin on the 30th of January, 2010, the featured Winter setting will be that of Minnesota’s “Lake Minnetonka” in Spring Park.
The 1st Polar Poker challenge is planned as an annual poker tournament, yet will boast more than just your standard poker game. The Polar Poker Challenge will also be holding exclusive ice fishing events, from which competitors will hopefully have a few fish to add to their poker pots by the end of the day. In addition, the event will be held in order to raise much needed funds for worthy Starkey Hearing Foundation and Miracles of Mitch Foundation charities. As such, those who will benefit from the finances gathered will be children from across the globe facing deafness, and children and families in Minnesota battling various forms of cancer.
There will also be a wide range of Poker professionals and general celebrities expected to attend and glamour up the scene. They will be greeted with a VIP reception 2 days prior to its opening, during which other contestants will be able to mingle, take part in a raffle and even bid in a silent auction. Last but not least, a competition will be held for the biggest catch of the day in weight and in number, for which their will be prizes.
The tournament itself will be comprised of 500 Poker players, and each of its days will be divided into 2; the first half of the day will include ice fishing, wining and dining, and the second half will be dedicated to good old Poker play. It is sure to warm up the Winter or anyone competing, since it will all take place within 2 heated, luxurious tents. What’s best about the entire scene is that coming along is free of charge, and open to practically anyone, even children. Accordingly, there will be a Polar Village established for all sorts of Winter fun when the tables get too hot!
