The search begins for ten lucky players to compete against Phil Ivey and Gus Hansen for £120,000 as FullTiltPoker announces the name of brand new television show
FullTiltPoker.com is offering ten lucky players the opportunity to share the limelight with some of the top names in the poker world, by competing on a television game show.
The online poker giant recently announced its brand new weekly television series The Poker Lounge, on which five top professional poker players will sit down next to an online qualifier to compete for £120,000 in cash. The ten episode programme will air on the United Kingdom's Channel 4 and will begin at midnight on Midsummer's day, 21st June.
The Poker Lounge is expected to follow a sit and go format and each player will contribute a buy-in of £20,000, with the winner taking home the entire pot.
A recent statement by FullTiltPoker.com read, "get behind the cards and cozy up to the world’s top players with poker’s best new television show, The Poker Lounge. Set in the luxurious confines of an exclusive London poker haven, The Poker Lounge combines intimacy and style with high-stakes action as six players battle it out for a cool $120,000 each week.
"With a $20,000 buy-in, each winner-take-all tournament brings together the top players and brightest personalities from the poker circuit. Experience the cut and thrust of friendly banter that is such an integral part of the live game while expert commentary provides insight as the cards fall."
Confirmation of the creation of The Poker Lounge comes shortly after FullTiltPoker.com's rival PokerStars announced their move to the small screen with a new TV series called the Big Game, a high stakes cash game programme which will air on the Fox TV station.
There have been numerous reports circulating that Team FullTilt members Phil Ivey and Gus Hansen have already confirmed their participation in this latest venture from Full Tilt Poker, whilst sources remain tightlipped as to the identity of the remaining stars. The name of the expert commentator is yet to be announced.
FullTiltPoker.com has announced that satellites for entry to the Poker Lounge have already started running with buy-ins starting from as low as $10. The Freeroll Qualifier tournaments run until 3rd July and will result in two lucky players each winning a $22,000 prize package. Daily Round one Freerolls are completely free and award 27 entries to a weekly Round 2 Qualifier. Weekly Round 2 qualifiers award entry to one of two Final Round Qualifiers and the Final Round Qualifiers will run on 9th May and 4th July.
