Guts Poker is one of the most unique poker variations out there. Learn the poker rules for it here and see why it’s called “Guts” poker!

Guts Poker is a unique and fierce poker variation that players from all around the world, whether beginner or expert, can learn easily and enjoy endlessly. The poker rules for this great variation are explained below, and once you’ve got them covered, you’re sure to want to dive head first into playing it!

Guts Poker is played with anywhere between 4 to 10 players, and the aim is to be the last poker player still holding (i.e. – the last poker player still in the game). The structure of the game is as follows:
1. Each player is dealt either 1, 2 or 3 cards face-down, depending on the poker rules used (see below).
2. Players must decide if they are going to continue to hold the hand dealt to them.
3. Those players who decided to hold their hands must now reveal them to the rest of the table.
4. The winner of the hand is determined – high hands win, and Straights and Flushes are not included.
5. Losers of the hand must mach the pot in their bets for the newly dealt hand. Hands are continually dealt until there is a single player left holding in the game.
6. When one player is left holding, he/she is awarded the pot.

Guts Poker can be played in a wide variety of variations by following different poker rules. The most common kinds are listed below:
o Hold Your Guts rules – in situations where none of the players decide to hold, the game is started again using the same hands, and is continued in the way until someone eventually does hold.
o Limit match rules – when losing players do not have to match the pot if it reaches a predetermined limit, but match that limit instead – good for beginners or low stakes players!
o Weenie rules – if none of the players decide to hold their hands, then all hands dealt must be exposed to the table and the player with the highest ranking hand must match the pot amount.
o Hand in the Middle rules – when an extra hand is dealt face-down on the table, and must be beaten by players in order for them to win despite not knowing what it is.
o Auction Guts rules – the same as Hand in the Middle rules, only that players can bid to trade in their hand for the mystery hand before the showdown.
