A new business model called Essence which changes the way the value of players is calculated has been announced by Ongame Network
The Ongame Network has just introduced Essence, this is the name for the principle behind Ongame Network’s new online poker business model where cash games players are valued by the style of their play for the first time. This shift in how players are valued will change the online poker industry’s business model permanently; this means that Ongame Network’s partners should now have a much healthier poker ecosystem.
Essence is an algorithm that runs in real time and at first will be applied to network-wide cash games. This idea is that the new business model will more accurately calculate the value of a player by considering their style of player and performance over 90 days. Essence should change the player ix, networks should now be able to attract and keep their most valuable players whilst still be able to welcome everyone.
Ongame Network’s partners are pleased about the change as it should bring long term sustainability to the network. Most partners’ loyalty programs are based upon player points which are now linked to the Essence model.
The Head of Ongame Network Martin Lerby said, “Breaking new ground is Ongame Network’s natural territory. Style of play gives a truer reflection of an online poker player’s worth. Our Essence powered business model leads the industry by using this new valuation to embrace all players for the benefit of all network stakeholders.”
Head of Betfair Poker, Daniel Svard said, “Ongame Network’s approach to player valuation is refreshing and is one of the many reasons Betfair chose to join this poker network.”
The CEO of Betsson Pontus Lindwall said, “Being able to welcome all kinds of players to all kinds of games is what Betsson is all about. Ongame Network enables us to do this.”
Essence will include the way players interact with Ongame Network’s poker lifecycle, include what games they choose, how often, what time they play, which tables and opponents are selected, how much they put into the pot, the speed of their play and many more elements of play.
Essence should allow Ongame Network and their partners to run target based advertising far more effectively.
Ongame Netowrk is one of the largest poker networks in the world and also a leading supplier of poker software. The network includes over 25 of the industry’s strongest brands and has anywhere up to 45,000 players online simultaneously.
