The Ladbrokes Poker School was a series of poker lessons with Nick Moran and Jon Kalmar, now you can revisit these informative sessions on their website at any time

You can now access the full course of Ladbrokes Poker School broadcasts directly from their website. These broadcasts feature Nick Moran of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and the Ladbrokes professional player Jon Kalmar. The lessons are all great fun and also extremely useful, they cover a wide range of issues so everyone can benefit from them, both the beginner and the more experienced player. Originally these broadcasts were live on Poker Radio and featured live phone sessions with Moran and Kalmar.

If you were a fan of these broadcasts but missed some you can now catch up just by logging in to the Ladbrokes Poker website and listening to them. The school begins with some introductory lessons on the basics of poker, they then move on to Texas Hold’em strategy, tips for Sin N Go, Multi Table Tournaments and Cash Games. There more advanced lessons also deal with Bankroll Management and other tips.

There session on Texas Hold’em strategy covers the basics of position, control and cards. Kalmar with give you tips about taking control of the pot through aggressive play, he moves on the explain how you must modify your tactics depending on your position at the table, finally he ends with his mantra of Control, Position, Cards.

There Advanced Tips session will provide you with insights into some really major areas of the game. There is a lot of time given to hole cards and the danger in over valuing them. Kalmar asks Moran what he considers to be the best hole, in Moran’s opinion it would be two aces. Kalmar then presents Moran with two kings and asks him what percentage of times he thinks that the aces will beat the kings. Moran replies that he’d guess around 60% and then Kalmar goes on to prove that the correct answer is actually 80%. They go through a number of combinations of hole cards like this as well. The session goes on to deal with what your chances are of improving your hands, how to calculate pot odds and how to calculate the number of outs.
