Last month the Italian Poker Tour stopped at the Casino Sanremo for the San Remo 3 tournament, the main event was won by previously unknown player Antonio Caponnetto

Recently the Casino Sanremo hosted the Italian Poker Tour San Remo 3 tournament. The final table began on December 14th with Antonio Caponnetto in the lead and Riccardo Lacchinelli not too far behind.
In the end Caponnetto won the tournament with a lucky final hand, he was holding Queen and Ten of Clubs with the board showing Three of Hearts, Jack of Clubs and Three of Clubs. Caponnetto went all in before realising that he was behind Lacchinelli’s Three of Diamonds and 2 of Spades. Neither player was helped by the turn but the river produced the Eight of Clubs giving Caponnetto a flush and the tournament.

In order to win Caponnetto had to overcome a field of 342 players over the course of five days, the prize pool was €663,420 and Caponnetto took home €170,000 of it. Lacchinelli in second place was awarded €110,000. This was the first time that Caponnetto had won a major live tournament event and his success is sure to grow from here.
