Receive the latest on the highly anticipated WSOP Circuit tournament here. We’ve got the lowdown on the series first winner, Dan Livingston, who won an awesome few hundred thousand

The 6th series of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit has finally kicked off, and its first winner has just been crowned. After a long and hard battle including no less than 248 keen players, Dan Livingston was the last standing in the tournament of the first stop, Hammond, in Illinois. Livingston conquered the $5,000 No Limit Texas Hold‘em tournament to take home a hefty prize of $291, 749, as well as the iconic champion’s gold ring. His cash prize pool was worth 20 percent more than last year’s, and his performance attracted 12 percent more people than last year’s.

The circuit stop was held at the Hammond’s Horseshoe Casino (close to Chicago). Livingston is a resident of Oak Forest, Illinois, and at age 22, he already has a lot to vouch for. He plays poker only part time and generally only plays low to middle buy-ins tourneys. It was no surprise, then, that he was simply thrilled by the win. When speaking to the Media Director for the WSOP, Nolan Dalla, Livingston explained that he was more than happy to accept nearly $300,000 for only 40 hours of “work”. In light of his impressive results, Livingston is now considering playing poker at a professional level and as a career.

Livingston out on an impressive show for the final day of poker play. He started with 867,000 playing chips and had 17 players still to defeat. Yet after a few early games, Livingston bumped that up to 2 million chips, and soon after became the main chip leader with no less than 4 million chips in his hands. In the last hand of the day, Livingston went head-to-head against local professional Tom Floros from Indian Head Park, Illinois. By the end of the day, it was Chris Gentile who placed 3rd with $119,556, Tad Mosele who took home 4th place with $84,594, and William Schweinebraten who took home $63,744 from 5th place.

The first stop of the WSOP Circuit was overall a very successful poker event. There were 248 players participating, a whopping $1,190,800 up for grabs and 27 paid places. No doubt the upcoming stops on the circuit will be just as action-packed, so stay tuned for more updates!
