PokerStars sees players swarm to its site after offering a record guaranteed $4 million jackpot in Sunday Million Tournament – first prize netted over $1 million
PokerStars, the world's largest internet poker provider, celebrated the fourth anniversary of its PokerStars Sunday Million tournament last Sunday with a record $4 million guaranteed prize pool. The tournament attracted a total of 36,169 players from across the globe, all keen to be in with a chance of winning a slice of a prize pool that ended up sitting at a staggering $7,233,800 – the largest Sunday Million treasure chest yet.
"RichieRichZH" won the $215 buy-in event by defeating player "lankeswar" in an exciting heads-up and collected winnings totalling $1,141,510. Second placed "lankeswar" won't have been too disappointed with the runner up prize of $754,774 and third placed "pentivest7" walked away with $506,366. Of the nine player final table, the top five positions all enjoyed a six-figure prize.
PokerStars is the world’s largest poker site and the home of tournament poker. As well as being home to the biggest weekly online tournament, the Sunday Million, the annual World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) can also be found there. It’s also where players can qualify for events like the European Poker Tour (EPT), PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) and many more.
Full Tilt Poker also saw plenty of action, with 5,645 players flocking to contest the site's fifteenth edition of Full Tilt Online Series of Poker. The main event culminated in a seven way split distributing $200,000 plus payments to the top four of a nine player final table, with six figure payments going as far down as position seven at the finish.
"JackQKA" triumphed to net himself $237,643 for his first place finish, followed by "PageUpV" who cleared $239,485. "dfhikj" in third place won $261,077, "RelaodPlz" collected $186,531 and "SurferKel" finished with $236,865.
Players were also keen to try their hand at Full Tilt Poker's Online Poker Series XV $2,500 buy-in, with "BadCardsAA" securing first place. After defeating "Ace18" in the final hand, "BadCardsAA" collected $430,000 in winnings. With its large buy-in and unique structure, this two day, six-max event has become one of the most popular FTOPS tournaments.
Full Tilt Poker has recently launched its patent-pending Rush Poker system that allows players jump to a new table when they fold. By eliminating game delays it offers players a seamless playing experience by automatically moving them to the next hand at a new table instead of waiting for the current hand to play out. A Quick Fold option allows players to move to a new table and immediately resume playing.
