Vanessa Selbt dominated the field at the NAPT Mohegan Sun taking home a cheque for $750,000 and her second major title win

This is the second major title win on Selbst’s list and is unlikely to be her last. During the World Series of Poker 2008 she won the PLO $1,500 tournament taking home a nice $230,000 in prize money. Following this, her first win, she decided to take a break from the poker tournament circuit in order to pursue full time law studies at Yale University. However, she made an exception for the NAPT, cleared the time to come and join the event and clearly it was worth her while.

Selbt said, "This is the biggest victory of my career; I know that the WSOP bracelets are supposed to be prestigious, but this victory was $230,000 against $ 750,000 this time. When I left poker, I was tired of poker, and passion always ends up catching me and God knows how much I missed poker.”
Of course poker is a game with inevitable ups and downs and when watching a tournament it is very unusual to see a player really dominating a competition for several consecutive days. However, at the Mohegan Sun Vanessa did exactly that in order to pull off her stunning victory. Throughout the course of the tournament she never dropped out of the top three players list and when it came to the final table only one other player, Mike Beasley, started with more chips than her.
