Doyle Brunson was one of sixty four players invited to take place in NBC’s Heads Up Championship 2010 which is soon to be aired on NBC

Doyle Brunson, who at 77 years old is now known as the Godfather of Poker, turned out to be a major contender in the first tournament of NBC’s Heads-Up Championship of 2010. Within the world of Poker, Brunson is considered to be somewhat of a legend. He has dedicated over 6 decades of his life to poker and during that time he has won an amazing ten WSOP bracelets. In addition to this he was the first player to make a million dollars in winnings, also the first to win two World Series of Poker main events in a row and he was also the first to win a World Series of Poker main event and a World Poker tour title, something only three other players have achieved.

A total of 64 of the world’s most successful and popular poker players were invited to take part and compete against each other in the Heads-Up Championship to try and win a share of the $1.5 million prize pool. The competition, which takes place every year, is part of a series of one-on-one No Limit Texas Hold’em matches. The winner will take home $500,000 from the event which was held at Cesar’s Palace.

Playing against Bruson were twelve other WSOP championss as well as people who have been nominated for Academy Awards. During the eighth round of the tournament Brunson lost in his head to head round against Dennis Phillips but still took home seventy five thousand dollars.

Over the next month poker loves will feel like they are in heaven as for two hours every Sunday NBC will be showing this exciting event. On May 23rd the exciting conclusion of this event will be aired during which Annie Duke will be playing her good friend Erik Seidel.
