Vanessa Rousso, the Poker icon will be starting her new year by visiting the Bahamas as her first stop on her 2010 poker boot camp celebrations. The Atlantis Resort on Paradise island will be full of poker enthusiasts from around the world on January 10th as they come to attend Rousso’s “Strategy Symposium Under the Sun” to learn new strategies from a top pro.
Shortly after this the celebrations will continue in Biloxi, Mississippi. A two day instructional session entitled “Poker Tournament Theory Boot Camp & Tournament” will run from January 22nd at Beau Rivage.
To date 27 year old Rousso has won over 4 million in tournaments and taken the poker world by storm. In the last year she won $79K at the Southern Poker Championship in Biloxi and she was features in a two day spread in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Last march she joined Danica Patrick, the racecar icon as the newest spokeswoman for GoDaddy.com and shortly went on to become the first female to make the finals of the NBC National Heads Up Poker Championship and finished in second place taking a massive $250,000. In April she went on to win the European Poker Tour High Roller Event in Monte Carlo winning nearly $1 Million. She continued to win throughout the summer including at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas and the Italian Poker Tour in Venice.
As a result of her massive success she has hosted several television shows including PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge, Poker After Dark and Stars of Poker. Most recently she is working on a television series called Bank of Holly wood being produced by Ryan Seacrest, the show can now be viewed on the e-channel.
More recently Rousso has been turning her attention to poker instruction. She has developed her own curriculum which will allow students to learn high level poker strategy and game theory in an interactive learning environment. This will include learning by doing and educational sessions. Rousso recently said that, “. "My biggest passion outside of playing poker is in teaching poker strategy. I love watching that light bulb go off in my students' minds when they discover something new. It is very exciting when their confidence level improves as a result of implementing what they have learned at my bootcamp. One of my students raked in $40,000 at the Main Event during the World Series of Poker!"
