A four hour epic battle between Mercier and Stein ended with Mercier taking the PokerStars North American Poker Tour High-Roller title and $350,000

The game proved to be one of the best heads-up matches in a very long time, it saw both the poker professionals going up and down in chip numbers and both of them maintained their patience and discipline right throughout the game. Whilst the spectators were hoping for the players to increase the stakes and add some drama, neither play game in and both played wisely.

Just after the dinner break the game finally came to an end. Stein was holding a small chip lead over Mercier and Mercier ended up going all in before the flop whilst holding a pair of 3’s and Stein held A – J. When the J – 6 – 2 appeared in the flop Mercier must of thought he had lost, however, a four appeared on the turn and a five on the river which of course gave Mercier a straight and a huge chip lead. It only took a few more hands for Mercier to dispatch of Stein and the still young Mercier won another major tournament to add to his rapidly growing collection. To date he has wonthe EPT San Remo, the EPT London High Roller Event and the 1,500 Pot Limit Omaha Event at the 2009 WSOP. He has also cashed a total of five times at the WSOP.

Mercier is only twenty four years old and has already amassed a massive five million dollars in tournament winnings. If he continues at his current pace and keeps winning then he is sure to go down in history as one of the greatest poker players who ever lived.
