180,000 online poker players are registering at PokerStars this month after their online poker club “Bugsy’s Club” shut down. Get all the details on the close and the transfer here.
The online poker club which has for years boasted “the best games in town” and the commitment to “take care of your personally”- Bugsy’s Club – has decided to shut down all its operations. The 180,000 online poker players registered at the club will be able to transfer over to the world’s largest online poker website, PokerStars, using their original Bugsy’s Club accounts.
After six long and successful years of providing players with quality online poker services, Bugsy’s Club announced on the 24th of March 2009 that due to “circumstances beyond our control with regards to banking facilities” it will have to close down. Despite having maintained a relatively stable network of players for that time, it is believed that other factors such as increase in market competition and the negative influences of the UIGEA are to have also influenced the company’s recently made decision.
Yet Bugsy’s Club did not leave its players hanging in the balance for any time. In the same statement released by the club’s management announcing its close, it was also explained to players that an agreement had been made with online poker room, PokerStars, to accept all of the site’s registered real money players. Not only will the 180,000 players be able to transfer their original Bugsy’s Club accounts over to the new site, but PokerStars will also be holding a series of freeroll online poker tournaments specifically for them, as the site’s unique way of welcoming the new players over.
As part of the deal between Bugsy’s Club and PokerStars, registered players will have to transfer their entire accounts over to the new online poker site in order to be able to withdraw any of the funds. Furthermore, they will also have to clear a certain amount of real money online poker hands prior in the same way they would for receiving a poker bonus. As for the player’s Bugsy Bonus Points, all players will have to start the count afresh at PokerStars.
Players should receive an email from PokerStars with details on how to facilitate their account transfer, yet information can also be found at the Bugsy’ Club FAQ page, available here: http://www.pokerstars.com/sites/bugsysclubfaq.
