Mike Sexton celebrated his induction into the Poker Hall of Fame earlier this week. The ceremony featured friends, family and some of the leading lights of the international gaming community
The legendary World Poker Tour Host and legend, Mike Sexton, greeted a total of five tables of specially selected guests to celebrate the Poker Hall of Fame induction ceremony last Saturday. A total of 200 visitors arrived to mark the special occasion in an event packed with famous names and faces across the gaming community. Sexton received 75% of the Poker Hall of Fame vote earlier this year defeating 8 other rivals to receive the ultimate poker honour. The World Poker Tour Host is reported to be delighted at the honour which he celebrated in the company of his close friends and family.
The impressive ceremony was filled with clips, speeches and footage of the poker host throughout his prestigious career. Featuring such personalities as Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, Scotty Nguyen, Erik Seidel, Men “The Master” Nguyen, Tom McEvoy, Barry Greenston and Dan Harrington, the event brought together many of the leading lights in the gaming industry imaking for a landmark event in the poker calendar. Sexton appeared alongside a range of Hollywood celebrities including such A listers as Ben Affleck, Paris Hilton, James Garner and many more. Full of class, sophistication and style, the occasion excited the interest of poker enthusiasts across the world in what was undoubtedly a night to remember for all involved.
The celebrated event took place in Rio’s Brasilia Room during a 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP) dinner break. The evening featured a grand buffet style menu for Sexton’s privileged guests which included his wife, Karen and several family friends including Jon “pokertrip” Friedberg. Sexton also welcomed journalists into his Spanish Hills residence earlier in the week where a preview of the dinner presentation was viewed. The Sexton family are now due to move to Los Angeles in forthcoming weeks in a luxurious new home equipped with panel TVs, a personal gym and a massage table. What remains clear is that Sexton’s reputation as a poker legend is now finally sealed. Sexton joins a string of other impressive names and takes his deserved place among the finest players in the world. Poker enthusiasts across the world will be waiting anxiously as talk of next year’s nominees already begins to surface.
