All the latest on the Poker Stars weekly million tournament action and who won big from the massive prize pool.
The Poker Stars Sunday million turned out to have a prize pool way in excess of a mere million dollars. With over 9,000 players all looking for their piece of the action the prize pool soared to a massive $1,9 million. The players battled it out for dominance and the prestigious title of winner of the Poker Stars weekly million. This 12 hour slug fest ended with a surprising 6 way negotiation that set $30,000 aside to the eventual winner whilst agreeing the pay out going to the remaining finalists.
The chances of getting paid out in this tournament were pretty good, with a total of 1,440 players making it into the money from a starting total of 9,594 players. Among those finishing in the cash were a whole host of Poker Stars pro players, including; Pat Pezzin, Juan Manuel Pastor and Anton Alleman who managed to make it to 13th place before getting knocked out after around 9 hours of tremendous play.
From that moment it didn’t take long to get down to the final 9 players and the final table, by 9 hours and 40 minutes in the final table was getting down to compete for the serious money. Some fantastic players found themselves sitting down to compete for the hundreds of thousands of dollars on offer. The players who made it to the final table were; XBraumeister, IKBenEenBaas, BlackMojos, upstrick77, dickkemp, kalmuka, Mr_BigQueso, PureCash25 and SeraphimV.
The first out was PureCash25 who pushed all in with King Jack only to be dominated by a call from SeraphimV with King Queen. Neither player paired and SeraphimV walked away with the pot in a hand where the kicker counted big time. Just a few hands later it was the turn of Mr_BigQueso to make the lonely push all in. His Ace Ten was effectively destroyed by SeraphimV’s call with pocket Queens that ended the hand as a Full House.
Once there were only 6 players left a long negotiation began over splitting the proceeds. These touchy players spent 30 minutes discussing how to split the pot and in the end came up with a solution acceptable to all. This put $204,574 into the hands of kalmuka who was the massive chip leader at the point of negotiations. The Bulgarian then went on to knock out all the rest of the opposition to claim the extra $30,000 set aside for the winner and to take the title of champion.
