Poker rules can be wild, but nothing tops those of Roller Coaster Poker. Read all about the poker rules and general game outline of this crazy poker variant, here.
As the name suggests, Roller Coaster is a game whose poker rules will take you on a wild ride of ups and downs in order to win a pot. Challenging yet highly thrilling, these are the kind of poker rules that are not for the faint hearted.
Anywhere between 3 to 8 players can take part in Roller Coaster. There are 5 rounds to each game, and the poker rules state that only one card can be dealt per round, with players betting after each one. The name ‘Roller Coaster’ was given because the poker rules also require that players alternately compete for the high and low hands in each round.
Once the ante is made, each player is dealt one card face-down. The poker rules say that the first round of Roller Coaster must be played for the highest card. Any players wishing to continue play for the pot must indicate so, and here the poker rules get interesting – in order to have all players indicate this concurrently, they must all secretly place a coin in their hands, lay their fists on the table and then open them in unison in order to reveal their status to the rest of the table. The poker rules in Roller Coaster alsonstate that if players aren’t holding a coin in their hand, then they aren’t playing for the pot. Those players who are, will, and in order to determine the winner they must swap around their cards. The highest hand wins, and the pot must be matched by all losing players (who continued). If no-one wins, the pot carries over.
According to the poker rules, the next round of Roller Coaster must be played for the low hand. Players are each dealt a card, and must again either place or not place a coin in their hand to continue for the pot. Those still in swap their cards to determine the winner. The lowest hand wins.
This process continues until the 5th round, for which there is a showdown and all players must participate. The highest hand here wins, yet as the poker rules state, if there is only one player continuing through to the pot, then he/she takes it and there will be no pot for the next game.
