Playing at more than one table seems difficult but a well thought out poker strategy can make multi-tabling fun and rewarding.
Know the Basic Rules
- A novice player has to know the basic rules before participating in multi-tabling.
- Formulate a poker strategy. It is usually a better proposition to multi-table in tournaments where you do not have to gauge all the actions of your opponent as closely as in ring games.
- At tournaments it is advised that you start your tables at different levels of the game, this will allow you time to make decisions at each table without pressure in cash games you should occupy different positions at each table.
3 Options for Online Multi-tabling There are three options when multi-tabling:
- you can play 2 tables on one monitor which involves resizing of the screen;
- you can have 2 monitors, playing one table on each or;
- if you have the capital, you can purchase a large monitor, the Dell 2001FP LCD Flat Panel, is the monitor of choice for most poker players.
1. Second Monitor The simpler less expensive way would be to hook up a spare monitor to your computer. However, remember that you will have to buy an adaptor that can support two monitors, standard computers come with adaptors that can only support one monitor.
2. Software There are some software packages which makes multi-tabling much easier. Multi Table Helper has an SNG feature, queued tables and coloured borders. Tweak UI allows you to move your mouse from one table to the other by simply hovering over the window you want to activate.PokerTracker keeps an eye on your opponent and helps you with stats so that you can identify your opponent's poker strategy quickly.
- The basic poker strategy when multi-tabling is to fold if you have not put money into the pot yet, if you have, simply raise your bet.
- This does not hold true in all cases though and you should always use your gut instinct as well.
- Playing continuously means that you have to keep the same number of tables going all the time. Should you fold in one game, you must enter another game in order to retain the same number of tables.
- If you choose to play in sets, it means that you will play the set to its conclusion before starting another set.
