Playing fixed limit poker is easy when you have the right poker strategy. Avoid falling victim to using no limit poker strategy in fixed limit games – learn the difference here!
Playing Texas Hold 'Em in fixed limit form is a very different thing from playing it in no limit form. Many players are not aware of the different poker strategy required for the two kinds of play. This is the place to learn all the basics of fixed limit poker strategy…
- Suited cards are not that attractive
Many players think that having as little as 2 suited cards can be the beginning of a profitable hand. Yet in fixed limit Hold 'Em a flush is obtained less than 5 percent of the time, meaning that they will have to bet for more than 20 times before winning the hand. This is bad poker strategy also because experienced players only pursue suited cards if they are high too, so pursuing anything low on a good table will probably mean that you'll be defeated. - If you can't pass the flop, fold!
Clever players know that the best poker strategy in fixed limit games is to pursue hands with moderate starting cards, such as medium pairs. This is because the fixed limit nature makes it extremely hard to for players to recover their losses. It is recommended that players bet only when they have a strong hand, and call or check when they are pursuing a draw or flush. For everything else – fold! - Be careful of high cards
Playing high pocket pairs or high cards such as Ace King can be dangerous in fixed limit poker, especially at the low stakes tables. This is because it is highly unlikely that it will ever be enough to win the pot. If the flop shows cards that could lead to better hands (like a flush, for example), then it is a better poker strategy to ditch your high cards for the higher chance of being dealt cards that match the flop. - Be in Control of your bets
Inexperienced poker players are likely to lose most of their gambling funds to bad bet-making and not their hands. Poker strategy applies equally to your bets, and it is advised that you fold marginal hands before it is too late, and bet large when you know you have a winner.
This should be enough to get you through a decent game of H.O.R.S.E!
