With a career spanning almost 20 years and numerous cashes at tournaments including at the WSOP, Theo Jorgensen is the latest member of the elite Team PokerStars Pro.
One of the best known and most popular poker players in Europe, Theo Jorgensen, is now a member of PokerStars having joined their expert Team PokerStars Pro. The player from Denmark has had his most successful year ever after winning more than $1.1 million in live tournaments. His first job as a member of Team PokerStars Pro will be on November 4th when he shall be hosting the opening event of the Nordic Championship of Online Poker
Jorgensen who is now 38 years old has expressed his delight at joining the world’s biggest poker site. He says that PokerStars host the best poker events in the world and sponsor only the top players and described himself as being “very excited” to be part of it.
Before playing poker professionally Jorgensen studied at business school in Copenhagen and then had various jobs before beginning to work in a casino. After a while he became “bored” and decided that he would rather be on the receiving end of the cards than the dealing end.
Having played poker since he was in school it was not particularly hard to turn professional in 1993 and he is now considered to be one of the world’s most experienced poker players. So far his career earnings in live tournaments amount to $2,410,519 and he has had several career highlights including coming 1st at the WPR Grand Prix De Paris in May 2010 and winning €638,377. He also came first at the WSOP Europe £5,000 Pot Limit Omaha taking home £218,626 in September 2008. Twice he has come in fourth at PokerStars.com EPT events, in Copenhagen back in January 2007 winning $177,225 and in Deauville during February 2006 winning €118,300. At this year’s World Series of Poker he had no problem getting through most of the field and was holding the chip lead late in the game before finally finishing in 30th place.
When asked why Jorgensen was chosen for Team PokerStars Pro, Michael Holmberg the PokerStars Nordic Director described Jorgensen as a fantastic ambassador for poker, he said that he has impressive “merits” at the tables and a excellent “aura” which is perfectly compatible with PokerStars values.
Holmberg went on to say that Team PokerStars Pro are excited to have such an experienced player on the team and described Jorgensen as a “role model” for many players both young and old.
