The best online poker players

The world of online poker is an exciting place with the top players winning big money, see who is doing well at the moment and their winnings so far this year

This year’s World Series of Poker has finally begun and its sure to produce loads of exciting poker news for all you avid readers, however, there is still lots of important news from the world of online poker.

Having said that, this week has been fairly quiet. The top three in this week’s Online Player of the Year leader board are exactly the same as last week; the only significant change is that Casey “bigdogpckt5s” Jarzabek has made substantial progress in his efforts to catch up on the leader, Taylor “ambiguosity” Paur.

Last Sunday Jarzabek manage to make four OPOP qualifying cashes this includes a win in the $100 re-buy on Full Tilt for a nice $47,225. This brings his total winnings for this year up to $528,044 and puts him just 112 points behind the lead. In third place is Corey “Comandr cool” Burbick.

Last month was a particularly good month for the online player “kirbynator”, this American professional player wants to retain his anonymity but nothing can hide his fantastic results. Last month he managed to amass the largest monthly OPOY point total in this history of the award.

In just one month “kirbynator” managed six OPOY qualifying cashes which were worth a total of 3,998 points. This brings his total for this year up to 5,918 and leaves him in fourth place overall.

There is a newcomer in this week’s top ten, Mark “dipthrong” Herm. This man from Pennsylvania was a regular name in the rankings for two years and has finally made his comeback. So far this year Herm has managed to win $374,248 which puts him in a fairly good position to contend for the title over the coming months.

The rest of the top ten is filled up by Steve “gboro780” Gross (fifth), Raj “BadcardsAA” Vohra (sixth), Mickey “Mement_mori” Petersen (seventh), Adam “squee451” Sherman (eighth) and Nicolas “PKaiser” Fierro (ninth).
