Roy “The Boy” Brindley is the newest addition to the Victor Chandler Pro players
The online poker giant victor Chandler has made a massive signing in the form of poker master Roy “The Boy” Brindley who will be playing as a part of Team VC in several upcoming poker tournaments. Brindley is known for being an excellent poker player who came to the fore at the start of the Poker boom in 2001. He is going to be valuable to VC not just for his poker skills but also for his experience which can be used to great effect when training up younger players as well as for the articles that he will contribute to the site.
Roy is known for being more than just a player, he is also an expert pundit on the game and has commentated on several big tournaments for such prestigious outlets as Sky Sports. He also maintains columns in various publications such as The Sun and The Racing Post. Roy “The Boy” Brindley is going to be a valuable asset to Victor Chandler for his knowledge but also as a host and well known poker personality.
Roy has moved to Victor Chandler after playing as a sponsored pro for Ladbrokes for over 5 years. The head of poker at Victor Chandler, Andy Horne, said that “We are very happy to have Roy “The Boy” captaining Team VC at EMOP and we are sure that his presence at the live events will have a positive effect on the performance of the Team VC players. Roy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table and is highly capable of imparting sound advice and strategies as well as winning the odd event himself.”
After struggling with and ultimately championing an addiction to gambling Roy has a more philosophical attitude towards poker than most pros. Whereas the first rule of poker is to play for the win Brindley has a more relaxed approach, arguing that “Poker has become way too serious in recent years. Yes we are all chasing a life-changing result but you have to accept that winners inevitably outnumber losers by a ratio of nine-to-one in tournaments and, consequently, it’s prudent to view ‘a cash as reason to rejoice and elimination an excuse to party!” We wish him luck at his new home in Victor Chandler.
