Get the low-down on all the WSOP satellites taking place. From the different poker tournament types to the buy-ins and entry offered, all you need to know is right here.
Taking part in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) is not a privilege set aside for the rich and famous. You too can participate in this world renowned event, and if you’re skilled enough, it might only cost you around $12! Yes, many online poker rooms hold poker tournaments that award the winner with a seat at the WSOP. These kinds of poker tournament are called “Satellites”, and this is where you’ll find all the information you need to finding and playing these poker tournament satellites right before they kick off.
There are 3 kinds of poker tournament satellites generally available: regular satellites, satellites with no fee, and freerolls. Regular satellites are the most popular poker tournament, and require that players purchase a buy-in, with which the total is used to purchase the WSOP seat awarded to the winner. There is also a house fee that is often charged by the casino for running the poker tournament, and it generally lies between 5 to 15% of the buy-in. for example, the satellite might be advertised as “$1000+$100, meaning that the buy-in is $1000 and the house fee is $100.
Yet be aware that some online casinos are willing to drop the house fee and run the poker tournament for free – and these are much more worth your while! Sometimes, they even contribute money of their own to the price of the WSOP seat! It is highly recommended that you try these poker tournament satellites first, since they generally have a limited number of seats available.
The last kind of satellite on offer is the highly popular freeroll poker tournament, which allows players to partake in the poker tournament for free whilst also provide the chance to win a WSOP seat! These are obviously the most attractive WSOP satellites, though they do come with some conditions; firstly, it is not uncommon that the casino requires you to qualify for the freeroll through a separate promotion. Also, with so many people taking part, the odds of winning a WSOP seat are usually one in every 300 players.
And if all this wasn’t enough, then there are even satellites out there that offer entry into larger satellites, so that if you cannot afford the buy-in, you still have a legitimate way of entering.
So this year, no excuses! Make sure you try for a seat at this prestigious event – it could be worth millions!
